The Blog Between the States.
While I respect Burlingame’s contributions to Lincoln historiography and his editorial work of Lincoln primary sources, I’m not a big fan of his “psychoanalysis” approach to Lincoln. I just don’t see how we can place lincoln on a chair after his death, and say we now know what he was thinking.
